Creativity
Creating
We are Creators
When we mention this, often many jump and are quick to declare, “I’m not creative.”
But we are, we are all creators.
Everyday we get up, we create, we create what we are eating, what we will wear, our work, how we will go about our day.
Many have gone to sleep to their ability to create. Many have allowed themselves to become stagnant. They open a box and press a button on a
microwave, rather than chop and stir and design a meal. Rather than write their thoughts down or build an outfit, they scroll their phones and open their closet and just grab something.
We are creative beings and when we do not use this ability we squash a part of ourselves. This squashing is upsetting to our system. It wreaks havoc causing all kinds of upset.
In the film, “Where’d You Go Bernadette?” Bernadette has developed insomnia, anxiety, frustration, a dislike for humans, not wanting to go outside. She finds it difficult to attend to her home, groceries. She is angry.

Her friend Paul, after listening to her rant about her life, points out the simplicity of her problem. She has become a “menace to society,” due to her lack of creativity. She needs to; as he puts it, “Get your ass back to work.”
Now Bernadette is this amazing architect, who has experienced a crisis in her work and in the health of her child.
Bernadette’s husband Elgie presents her with a gift.
Bernadette
“Elgie gave me this locket of St. Bernadette, she had 18 visions
Beeber Bifocal and 20 Mile House were my first 2 visions and I leaned in and said to my beautiful little blue guppy you are my other 16 visions all rolled into one.”
Bernadette’s referral to a beautiful little blue guppy is her daughter Bee.
We do this. We often shelve ourselves when something traumatic happens or we set ourselves aside for our family, to raise our children, to support those who depend on us, to allow a partner to pursue their dream. But eventually the trauma is meant to heal and grow from and our children move on with their own growth.
We are meant to move ourselves up the list. Often we have forgotten to even put ourselves on the list.
When my daughter was six and my son was three and my relationship was in an abusive state, my doctor advised me to find something that was just for me. Something that gave me the opportunity to go out and create. It was to be enjoyable, nothing overwhelming. It took me an entire year from the time of her guidance for me to implement this. But when I finally did, I understood why she had instructed me to do so.
I began to return to me.
Now you’ll stop and protest that you are not an amazing architect, and yes, Bernadette is referred to as a genius and you’ll jump in with, “And I’m definitely not a genius.”
And I will come back with, “Did you know…”
Genius, in Latin, gignere, meaning to give birth or bring forth, the root word for generate. Originating in ancient Rome, it was felt that we all have a guardian spirit.
A person’s ‘genius’ dictated their unique personality and nature.
We all have this, no one is without it.
No one is left out. It’s more to the truth that most of us will not allow ourselves to hear it and then go forth and live it.
But even more so, is that you enjoy it. For when you allow your genius to come to life, you will feel alive.
You will become the Creator you were meant to be.
As Creators we have visions, visions that come from our hearts, our truth. Visions that are fuelled by passion.
The Life you live each day is your creation. But, is it the vision you would manifest if you allowed yourself to hear your genius, to even entertain living with passion?
Whatever you do, may you allow yourself to hear your own innate spirit that is here to guide you and that you allow your own unique self to live and be alive.
Do not compare yourself to the character Bernadette. Her illustration is larger than life to get your attention, so you hear the message and get what you may need to do for you.

Return to the artist, the genius in you and stop being a menace. Return to contributing to your greater good, which is always the greater good for all.
