Karen and Maya were out for an afternoon, walking, taking in whatever the day might present. Karen stopped to take a photo of seagulls flying overhead.
Maya, “Let me see,”
“Oh my god! Look at what you captured.”
Karen, “What?”
Maya, “Look closely.”
And there it was, a dragonfly – in the sky with the seagulls. A dragonfly who chose to make an entrance in front of the lens of Karen’s phone while she focused on the seagulls.
Magic.
A shared moment of Awe and Wonder.
When you awaken to these unexpected moments that catch your eye and grab your heart. They have you smiling. You feel good. You lighten. Your spirit lifts and you know you have entered into a slice of special, announcing, “I’m so lucky.”
Angela and Sharon go for weekly walks throughout Angela’s neighbourhood. It never fails. An area in the city where the houses that line the streets, hold generations of stories, where the trees roots have grown deep, providing shade and a sense of security; never cease to disappoint.
Hearts hang from shrubbery. Gnome villages live at the base of tree trunks on boulevards. Bees come to enjoy Sunflowers. A collection of super heroes and storybook characters parade across a wall. Where passerby’s contribute, to the collection.
On Sharon’s terrace a spider, trapezes amongst her Mandevilla’s and she’s certain it has a face.
Outside her bedroom window before the day has begun for many, a rabbit appears to say hello.
Awe and Wonder can appear while alone or in the company of another. Those who know of it, share it.
There is so much that can grab hold of our attention. Much that leaves us feeling empty.
And yet in the blink of ones eye, in nature, while walking or out and about throughout your day, Life sends you gifts.
You light up, you smile, you may even loose yourself and jump up and down, perhaps you’ll clap your hands, you’ll gasp, you shout hurrah, “I’m so lucky!”
For you will have entered into the realm of Awe and Wonder, not empty anymore, for Life in all its Magic, has filled you up.
